The vice-chancellor reports to and is accountable to the council. The vice-chancellor is also the accountable officer for the purposes of the [[Office for Students]] financial memorandum. The LSE's current interim vice-chancellor is [[Eric Neumayer]], who replaced [[Minouche Shafik]] on 23 June 2023.
