Juneteenth is a [[Federal holidays in the United States|federal holiday]] in the United States. For decades, activists and congress members (led by many African Americans) proposed legislation, advocated for, and built support for state and national observances. In January 2025, President [[Donald Trump]] issued an executive order banning [[DEI|diversity, equity, and inclusion]] programs in federal agencies that has been interpreted by various agencies as eliminating in-agency observance planning for a number of cultural remembrance events, including Juneteenth, [[Black History Month]], and several others.
