Most Jews in hiding could not pass as ethnic Poles and would have faced deadly consequences if discovered.{{sfn|Zimmerman|2015|p=5}}<ref name="Snyder 2015"/>{{rp|275}}

It also centralized contacts between Polish and Jewish military organizations.
