==Notable people== [[Daniel Wolsey Voorhees]] was born in Ohio but was raised in Fountain County. He attended school in Veedersburg, graduated from college in 1849, was admitted to the bar, and began practicing law in Covington; he moved to Terre Haute in 1857. He served as a United States Senator (1877β1897), and was known as "the tall sycamore of the Wabash".
