== Conservation ==
In India, the dhole is protected under Schedule 2 of the [[Wildlife Protection Act, 1972]]. The creation of reserves under [[Project Tiger]] provided some protection for dhole populations sympatric with tigers. In China, the animal is listed as a category II protected species under the Chinese wildlife protection act of 1988. In [[Cambodia]], the dhole is protected from all hunting, while conservation laws in Vietnam limit extraction and utilisation.<ref name=iucn/>
