Gaelic football is played throughout the province with the five counties annually competing in the [[Connacht Senior Football Championship]] to determine the provincial champion. [[Galway GAA|Galway]] are the most successful side in Connacht with 48 Connacht titles and 9 [[All-Ireland Senior Football Championship]]. Hurling in Connacht mostly played in County Galway. [[Galway GAA|Galway]] is the only team in the province to compete in the [[All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship]] winning the [[Liam MacCarthy Cup]] five times.
