Tourism is a major part of Cleveland's income. Visitors come from all over the country. The [[Cherokee National Forest]] in Polk County supports many recreational outdoor activities. The [[Ocoee River|Ocoee]] and [[Hiwassee River|Hiwassee]] rivers both flow through the forest. Thousands of people [[rafting|raft]] these rivers annually. The Ocoee River was the site of the [[Canoeing at the 1996 Summer Olympics|canoe slalom events]] for the [[1996 Summer Olympics]] in [[Atlanta]]. [[Red Clay State Park]] is a historical site just north of the Georgia state line. The Cherokee held council here after being driven out of Georgia.
