On October 7, 2023, [[Palestinian political violence|Palestinian militant groups]], led by [[Hamas]], [[2023 Hamas attack on Israel|launched a major attack]] into [[Israel|Israeli territory]] from the [[Gaza Strip]]. This operation was called 'Operation Al-Aqsa Flood' by Hamas.
