===Criticism of Sri Lankan government===
In an opinion piece in ''The Guardian'', Roy pleaded for international attention to what she called a possible government-sponsored genocide of [[Sri Lankan Tamil people|Tamils in Sri Lanka]]. She cited reports of camps into which Tamils were being herded as part of what she called "a brazen, openly racist war".<ref name="guardian1">{{cite news |last=Roy |first=Arundhati |title=This is not a war on terror.
