It clarified that the Algerian government imposed restrictions on [[freedom of the press]]; expression; and right to peaceful demonstration, protest and assembly as well as intensified censorship of the media and websites. Independent and autonomous trade unions face routine harassment from the government, with many leaders imprisoned and protests suppressed.
