The racial makeup of the county was 70.6% White, 3.2% African American, 2.6% Native American, 7.5% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 10.0% from other races, and 5.9% from two or more races. About 17.4% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos of any race. Ancestry distribution was 11.2% [[German people|German]], 10.4% American, 7.6% Irish, and 7.5% English according to [[Census 2000]]; 78.8% spoke [[English language|English]], 13.2% [[Spanish language|Spanish]], and 4.7% [[Hmong language|Hmong]] as their first language. In the county, the age distribution was 31.0% under 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 19.6% from 45 to 64, and 10.6% who were 65 or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females, there were 101.6 males. For every 100 females 18 and over, there were 99.4 males. The median income for a household in the county was $30,460, and for a family was $34,103.
