Many other forms of [[alternative education]] also prioritize student control of learning, albeit not necessarily by the individual learner. Democratic schools gives students the ability to take classes as they please, as well as befriend children from all age groups (as the schools do not separate students into grades). Students can also practice the idea of democracy in many ways, as voting is a large part of their school experience.
