After returning to Alaska, Stevens managed [[Richard Nixon]]'s [[1960 United States presidential election|1960]] campaign in [[1960 United States presidential election in Alaska|Alaska]]. Nixon lost the election narrowly to [[John F. Stevens was then joined by [[H.
