Very much like neutrons do in [[nuclear reactor]]s, neutrinos can induce [[fission reaction]]s within heavy [[atomic nucleus|nuclei]].<ref name=Kolbe-Langanke-Fuller-2004/> So far, this reaction has not been measured in a laboratory, but is predicted to happen within stars and supernovae.
