In July 2021, Microsoft announced it will start selling subscriptions to virtualized Windows desktops as part of a new ''Windows 365'' service in the following month. The new service will allow for [[Cross-platform software|cross-platform usage]], aiming to make the operating system available for both Apple and Android users.
