==Death== Chaney suffered from a series of illnesses in the year prior to his death. In April 1973, he was released from the hospital after undergoing surgery for [[cataract]]s and treatment for [[beriberi]]. He also suffered from liver problems and [[gout]]. Chaney died on July 12, 1973, in [[San Clemente, California]], at the age of 67.
