==Death==
Chaney suffered from a series of illnesses in the year prior to his death. In April 1973, he was released from the hospital after undergoing surgery for [[cataract]]s and treatment for [[beriberi]]. He also suffered from liver problems and [[gout]]. Chaney died on July 12, 1973, in [[San Clemente, California]], at the age of 67. He was honored by appearing as the Wolf Man on one of a 1997 series of United States postage stamps depicting movie monsters (his father appeared as the Phantom of the Opera, while Bela Lugosi appeared as Dracula, and Boris Karloff had two stamps as [[Frankenstein's monster]] and the original [[The Mummy (1932 film)|Mummy]]).
