The arid climate and warm temperatures during the summer draw people to Kennewick from around the Pacific Northwest. Kennewick lies near the center of Washington's wine country, which stretches from the Yakima Valley through the Columbia Basin and [[Horse Heaven Hills]] east to the Walla Walla Valley. There are several [[American Viticultural Area]]s near town.
