===Personality=== Hermione's most prominent features include her prodigious intellect and cleverness. She is levelheaded, book-smart, and very logical. Throughout the series, Hermione uses the skills of a librarian and teacher to gather the information needed to defeat Voldemort. When in doubt, she always turns to the school library.<ref>{{Cite journal|last=Freier|first=Mary P.|date=1 January 2014|title=The Librarian in Rowling's Harry Potter Series|url=http://docs.lib.purdue.edu/clcweb/vol16/iss3/6/|journal=CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture|volume=16|issue=3|doi=10.7771/1481-4374.2197|issn=1481-4374|doi-access=free|access-date=16 November 2016|archive-date=16 November 2016|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20161116225750/http://docs.lib.purdue.edu/clcweb/vol16/iss3/6/|url-status=live}}</ref> She is often bossy yet unfailingly dutiful and loyal to her friends—a person who can always be counted on. Rowling said that Hermione "never strays off the path; she always keeps her attention focused on the job that must be done".<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/2007/11/19/new-interview-with-j-k-rowling-for-release-of-dutch-edition-of-deathly-hallows|title=New Interview with J.K. Hermione is also very protective of her friends and values them so much that Rowling has suggested that, if Hermione looked in the [[Mirror of Erised]], she would see Harry, Ron, and herself alive and Voldemort defeated.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://screenrant.com/harry-potter-mirror-erised-main-characters-see-desires/|title=Harry Potter: What Each Character Saw In The Mirror Of Erised (& Why)|last=Tyler|first=Adrienne|website=Screen Rant|date=7 July 2021|access-date=11 May 2022|archive-date=11 May 2022|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220511134758/https://screenrant.com/harry-potter-mirror-erised-main-characters-see-desires/|url-status=live}}</ref> Hermione also learns to ignore what bullies such as Draco Malfoy say to her, often preventing Harry and Ron from retaliating and thinking of some way to outsmart him. She accepts her status as a Muggle-born, and says in ''Deathly Hallows'' that she is "a Mudblood and proud of it".{{sfn|Rowling|2007}}
