Throughout his career, Ford has received significant recognition for his work in the entertainment industry. In 1986, he was nominated for [[Academy Award for Best Actor|Best Actor]] at the [[58th Academy Awards]] for his performance in ''Witness'', a role for which he also received [[39th British Academy Film Awards|BAFTA]] and [[43rd Golden Globe Awards|Golden Globe]] nominations in the same category.
