In December 2017, comedian [[John Oliver]] unexpectedly questioned Hoffman about the allegations during the 20th anniversary screening of ''[[Wag the Dog]]'' at the [[92nd Street Y]]. "It's 'not reflective of who I am' – it's that kind of response to this stuff that pisses me off," Oliver said. "Do you understand how that feels like a dismissal?" Hoffman said he felt blindsided by the line of questioning, remarking "You've made the case better than anyone else can. I'm guilty. Because someone has alleged something, I'm guilty. You push a button. It's all over the world: I'm a predator.
