This regulation defines [[Advanced Emergency Braking Systems]] (AEBS) for heavy vehicles to automatically detect a potential forward collision and activate the vehicle braking system. On 23 January 2020<ref name="auto"/> UNECE vehicle regulation 152 was enacted, defining Advanced Emergency Braking Systems for light vehicles.
