In 1923, King's government passed the ''[[Chinese Immigration Act, 1923]]'' banning most forms of [[Chinese people|Chinese]] immigration to Canada. Immigration from most countries was controlled or restricted in some way, but only the Chinese were completely prohibited from immigrating. Also in 1923, the government modified the ''[[History of Canadian nationality law|Immigration Act]]'' to allow former subjects of [[Austria-Hungary]] to once again enter Canada.
