A modern railway connection in order to replace the now-defunct [[Transandine Railway]] between Argentina and Chile has been proposed and is currently in the planning stages with support from an international consortium of companies. The rail link will carry both passengers and freight through the [[Andes]], linking the cities of Buenos Aires and [[Santiago de Chile]].
