Tabor City is approximately {{convert|30|mi}} from the ocean at [[North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina]] and is due north of Myrtle Beach, SC.

According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the town has a total area of {{convert|8.2|km2|disp=flip}}, all  land.<ref name="Census 2010"/> It is located on the border with [[South Carolina]], approximately {{convert|30|mi}} inland from the [[Atlantic Ocean|Atlantic]], {{convert|28|mi}} north of [[Myrtle Beach, South Carolina|Myrtle Beach]], and {{convert|58|mi}} west of [[Wilmington, North Carolina|Wilmington]]. Lake Tabor, a {{convert|149|acre|adj=on}} lake, is on the eastern side of town.<ref name="places to see"/>

[[U.S. Route 701]] runs through the town in a generally north–south direction, while [[North Carolina Highway 904]] generally runs thorough the town in an east–west direction. The two highways intersect at the center of town. In addition, a business loop of US 701 serves also as the main business corridor in Tabor. [[North Carolina Highway 410]] starts at the NC/SC state line before going through the town and continuing on to [[Chadbourn, North Carolina]]
