As of March 2011, there were a total of 15,979 registered voters in Scotch Plains Township, of which 5,061 (31.7% vs. 41.8% countywide) were registered as [[Democratic Party (United States)|Democrats]], 3,562 (22.3% vs. 15.3%) were registered as [[Republican Party (United States)|Republicans]] and 7,346 (46.0% vs. 42.9%) were registered as [[Unaffiliated (New Jersey)|Unaffiliated]].
