===County government=== 
The [[Government of San Joaquin County, California|Government of San Joaquin County]] is defined and authorized under the [[Constitution of California|California Constitution]] and [[Law of California|California law]] as a general law county.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.sjgov.org/dynamic.aspx?id=1342|title=Counties of California|work=San Joaquin County website|access-date=December 29, 2012}}</ref> Much of the government of California is in practice the responsibility of county governments, such as the Government of San Joaquin County. The County government provides countywide services such as elections and voter registration, law enforcement, jails, vital records, property records, tax collection, public health, and social services. Some other cities arrange to have the County provide some or all of these services on a contract basis.

The County government is composed of the elected five-member four-year-term [[board of supervisors]] (BOS), which operates in a legislative, executive, and [[Quasi-judicial body|quasi-judicial]] capacity; several other elected offices including the [[Sheriffs in the United States#California|Sheriff]], [[District attorney|District Attorney]], and [[Tax assessment|Assessor]]; and numerous county departments and entities under the supervision of the [[county administrator]].<ref>{{cite web

As of February 2025, the supervisors are:

* Sonny Dhaliwal (District 3 and Vice Chair),
* Steven J. Ding (District 4), and
