==Religion== Christianity is the largest religious affiliation in Ripon; 79.3% of the people in the area polled as part of the [[United Kingdom Census 2001]] professed the Christian faith.<ref name="ukpoling"/> [[Ripon Cathedral]] is the main religious building in the city and contains a tomb said to contain the bones of Saint [[Wilfrid]] who founded a monastery here and with it the town.
