In the {{CensusAU|2021}}, Christianity was the primary religious affiliation in New South Wales (NSW), comprising 47.6% of the population, mostly [[Catholic Church in Australia|Roman Catholicism]] (22.4%) and [[Anglican Church of Australia|Anglicanism]] (11.9%). This percentage has declined over time, while the number of people identifying with no religious affiliation has risen. In 2016, the Christian affiliation rate was 55.2%, and in 1971 it was 88.4%.
