===North America=== The largest lignite deposits in North America are the [[Gulf Coast]] lignites and the Fort Union lignite field. The Gulf Coast lignites are located in a band running from [[Texas]] to [[Alabama]] roughly parallel to the Gulf Coast. The Fort Union lignite field stretches from [[North Dakota]] to [[Saskatchewan]].
