On 27 February 2020, during the [[Northwestern Syria offensive (December 2019–present)|northwestern offensive]] launched in December 2019 by the Syrian regime (backed by Russia, [[Iran]] and [[Hezbollah]]), Russian and Syrian aircraft (variously reportedly as Russian [[Su-34]]s and Syrian [[Su-22]]) [[2020 Balyun airstrikes|attacked a Turkish military convoy near Idlib]], killing 36 Turkish soldiers.
