=== Residents notable in cultural history === {{see also|List of people from Erfurt}} The theologian, philosopher and mystic [[Meister Eckhart]] (c. 1260–1328) entered the [[Dominican Order|Dominican]] monastery ({{lang|de|Predigerkloster}}) in Erfurt when he was aged about 18 (around 1275). Eckhart was the Dominican [[Prior (ecclesiastical)|prior]] at Erfurt from 1294 until 1298, and Vicar of Thuringia from 1298 to 1302.
