As of March 2011, there were a total of 5,120 registered voters in Edgewater, of which 2,250 (43.9% vs. 31.7% countywide) were registered as [[Democratic Party (United States)|Democrats]], 514 (10.0% vs. 21.1%) were registered as [[Republican Party (United States)|Republicans]] and 2,352 (45.9% vs. 47.1%) were registered as [[Unaffiliated (New Jersey)|Unaffiliated]]. On the local level, Edgewater has its own two-party system, split between the Democratic Party and the Independent Coalition for a Better Edgewater.<ref>Staff. The perennial local political issue is managing growth.
