The '''''British North America Act 1949''''' ([[12, 13 & 14 Geo. 6]]. c. 22) allowed for the entry of Newfoundland as Canada's tenth province. This act was renamed the ''[[Newfoundland Act]]'' when the Canadian Constitution was patriated from the United Kingdom in 1982.

This act should not be confused with the ''British North America (No. 2) Act 1949'' ([[12, 13 & 14 Geo. 6]]. c. 81) (see below).
