==Government==
Yankton is governed by the City Commission, under a [[Council–manager government|Council-Manager]] form of Local Government. The City Commission is responsible for [[Legislature|legislative functions]] such as establishing policy, passing [[local ordinance]]s, and voting [[Appropriation (law)|appropriations]]. The City Commission appoints the City Manager to oversee the administrative operations, implement its policies, and advise the commission.
