The Board of Regents is made up of eleven members, including one student member and one faculty member. Regents are appointed by the [[List of governors of Washington|Governor of the State of Washington]] for six-year terms, except for the Student Regent (who serves for one year) and the Faculty Regent (who serves for three years).<ref name="Board of Regents" /> Regents continue to serve after their terms have ended until either they resign or the Governor appoints a successor.
