===1970: Dissolution===

Following the disruption, de Gaulle appointed [[Edgar Faure]] as minister of education; Faure was assigned to prepare a legislative proposal for reform of the French university system, with the help of academics.<ref name="auto">Berstein, p. 229.</ref> Their proposal was adopted on 12 November 1968;<ref name="auto1">Berstein, p. 229; {{cite French law|lower case=yes|number or usual name=n<sup>o</sup> 68-978|date in French=12 novembre 1968}}.</ref> in accordance with the new law, the faculties of the University of Paris were to reorganize themselves.<ref name="auto2">Conac, p. 177.</ref> This led to the division of the University of Paris into 13 universities.
