Sheridan County voters have traditionally voted Republican; every national election since [[1940 United States presidential election in Nebraska|1940]] has seen Sheridan County choose the Republican Party presidential candidate. The county, alongside neighboring [[Garden County, Nebraska|Garden County]] were the only two counties not to back Democratic Governor [[Ben Nelson]] in his [[1994 Nebraska gubernatorial election|1994 landslide]].
