The ability and specific methods needed to customize the look and function of scrollbars can vary significantly based on which [[operating system]] or [[Application software|software application]] you are attempting to customize. A common method of altering the look of the scrollbar in [[Web page]]s is to use [[Cascading Style Sheets|CSS]] directives to change the scrollbar colors.
