The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was not only about the British aesthetic,; they could be linked to other 19th-century European art movements. Impressionism in France was about fleeting light and modern leisure. We can see this in the PRB's love of narrative, clarity and moral themes. The Pre-Raphaelites preferred permanence, while Monet and Renoir, the Impressionists, captured the moment.
