In 2013, [[NBC]] produced ''[[The Sound of Music Live!]]'' as part of their effort for expanded live entertainment events, which became an annual tradition of adaptations of stage musicals, created specifically as live television events. The following years featured ''[[Peter Pan Live!]]'', ''[[The Wiz Live!]]'', ''[[Hairspray Live!]]'', ''[[Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert]]'', ''[[Dr. Seuss' The Grinch Musical Live!]]'', and ''[[Annie Live!]]''.
