All municipalities in Puerto Rico are administered by a mayor, elected every four years. The current mayor of Humacao is former Senator [[Rosamar Trujillo Plumey]], of the [[Popular Democratic Party of Puerto Rico|Popular Democratic Party]] (PPD). She was first elected at the [[Puerto Rican general election, 2024|2024 general elections]]. The city belongs to the [[Puerto Rico Senatorial district VII]], which is represented by two Senators.
