In March 2011, there were 11,991 registered voters in Hillside Township, of whom 6,196 (51.7% vs. 41.8% countywide) were registered as [[Democratic Party (United States)|Democrats]], 685 (5.7% vs. 15.3%) were registered as [[Republican Party (United States)|Republicans]] and 5,109 (42.6% vs. 42.9%) were registered as [[Unaffiliated (New Jersey)|Unaffiliated]].
