The nonprofit organization provides youth leaving children's homes with guidance that enables them to develop their skills, further their education, and source suitable housing in order to participate in society as independent adults.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://sayesmentoring.org|title=SAYes Transition Mentoring|access-date=May 8, 2017}}</ref> While filming ''[[The Last King of Scotland (film)|The Last King of Scotland]]'' in 2005, Anderson started a crowdfunding venture that benefited the Alinyiikira Junior School in [[Kampala]], Uganda.
