''Forrest Gump'' was first released on [[VHS]] on April 27, 1995, and on [[Laserdisc]] the following day. The laserdisc was [[THX]] certified and released without chapters, requiring the film be watched start to finish. Film magazines of the period stated this was at the request of Zemeckis who wanted viewers to enjoy the film in its entirety.
