After its October 23 release, ''Dumbo'' proved to be a financial miracle compared to other Disney films. The simple film only cost $950,000 ({{Inflation|US|950000|1941|fmt=eq|r=-4}}) to produce,<ref name="mojo"/> half the cost of ''Snow White'', less than a third of the cost of ''[[Pinocchio (1940 film)|Pinocchio]]'', and certainly less than the expensive ''[[Fantasia (1940 film)|Fantasia]]''.
