=== Electricity ===
An electric system was built on the island in the 1970s,<ref name="usgennet.org" /> and electricity is provided by city-operated Diomede Joint Utilities. They provide houses and other facilities with electricity produced by [[diesel generators]]. Diesel fuel is stored in large tanks, which are placed at the furthest possible location from the housing.
