From 1950 to 1954, Parker lived with Chan Berg on the ground floor of the townhouse at 151 Avenue B, across from [[Tompkins Square Park]] in Manhattan's [[East Village, Manhattan|East Village]]. The [[Gothic Revival architecture|Gothic Revival]] building, which was built about 1849,<ref name=nycland>{{cite nycland}}, p. 69</ref> was added to the [[National Register of Historic Places]] in 1994<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.charlieparkerresidence.net/ |title=Charlie Parker: The Charlie Parker Residence, NYC |publisher=Charlieparkerresidence.net |access-date=March 10, 2011 |archive-date=July 19, 2018 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180719221914/https://charlieparkerresidence.net/ |url-status=dead }}</ref> and was designated a [[List of New York City Landmarks|New York City landmark]] in 1999.
