As of the [[2020 United States census|2020 census]], there were 122,076 people and 50,841 households residing in the county. There were 50,868 housing units in Berkeley. The racial makeup of the county was 80.5% [[White American|White]], 7.7% [[African American]], 1.2% [[Asian American|Asian]], 0.3% [[Native Americans in the United States|Native American]], 2.3% from [[Race and ethnicity in the United States Census#Race|other races]], and 8% from [[Multiracial American|two or more races]]. [[Hispanic and Latino Americans|Hispanics or Latinos]] of any race were 5.6% of the population.

Of the 50,841 households, 48.6% were married couples living together, 23.5% had a female householder with no spouse present, 17.6% had a male householder with no spouse present. The average household and family size was 2.96. The median age in the county was 38.5 years with 22.9% of the population under 18. There were 32,913 housing units at an average density of {{convert|102|/mi2|/km2|disp=preunit|units&nbsp;|units}}. The racial makeup of the county was 92.74% [[Race (United States Census)|White]], 4.69% [[Race (United States Census)|Black]] or [[Race (United States Census)|African American]], 0.25% [[Race (United States Census)|Native American]], 0.46% [[Race (United States Census)|Asian]], 0.02% [[Race (United States Census)|Pacific Islander]], 0.56% from [[Race (United States Census)|other races]], and 1.28% from two or more races. 1.52% of the population were [[Race (United States Census)|Hispanic]] or [[Race (United States Census)|Latino]] of any race.

In the county, the population was spread out, with 25.70% under the age of 18, 8.30% from 18 to 24, 31.30% from 25 to 44, 23.60% from 45 to 64, and 11.20% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 99.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.40 males.

The median income for a household in the county was $38,763, and the median income for a family was $44,302. Males had a median income of $32,010 versus $23,351 for females.
