The federal state is divided into nine [[Districts of Austria|districts]] (''[[Bezirk]]e''); one of them, Innsbruck, is a [[statutory city (Austria)|statutory city]]. There are 277 municipalities. The districts and their administrative centres, from west to east and north to south, are:
