In 1996, the [[Home Work Convention]], an [[International Labour Organization]] (ILO) [[Treaty|Convention]], was created to offer protection to workers who are employed in their own homes.

In the [[Netherlands]], the Flexible Working Act allows workers to submit a written request to work from home, at least partly.
